The share of Russians who have heard about the Russian March action is 48%; 24% of them supported the idea; 13% would take part in it.
MOSCOW, November 11, 2013. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the data concerning the attitudes of Russians towards the Russian March action, the number of respondents who are ready to support this action, and the reasons behind that.
About 46% of Russians are aware that Russian nationalists carry on the Russian March action on November 4th. Those who are most informed about that are Muscovites and Petersburgians (71%). Fifty-two percent of respondents report that they have learned about that from the interviewer.
The idea itself is supported by 24% of respondents; most of them live in Moscow and St.Petersburg (41%) and support the LDPR (41%). Other 38% of Russians say that they do not support such actions but regard them admissible; most of them are residents of million cities and small cities (43 and 44%, respectively). Twenty-nine percent of respondents have negative attitudes towards the Russian March; basically they live in middle cities and rural area (35 and 36, respectively) and support the CPRF (36%).
Twelve percent of respondents report that such an action is going to be held in their cities; most of them are Muscovites and Petersburgians (49%). Fifty-five percent of respondents say that this action will not be held in their city; as a rule, they are residents of small cities (67%). Other 33% failed to answer.
Thirteen percent of respondents report that they would support this action if it took place in their place of residence. The share of those who generally support the Russian March action is 42%. The reason behind the desire to support the action is the need to express personal opinion (41%) and negative perception of migrants (38%).
Most of Russians (72%) say that they would not take part in the action. The key reason behind that is that they have negative attitudes toward such actions (29%). Fifteen percent of Russians say such actions are pointless; 12% call them useless; 10% say that they have no time for that.
The VCIOM opinion polls were conducted on November 2-3, 2013. 1600 respondents were interviewed in 130 communities in 42 regions of Russia. The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
Every year Russian nationalists conduct their action called the Russian March. The slogans of the action are as follows: “Today`s migrants are tomorrow`s occupants”, “We are Russians, We are the force”, Russian faces for Russian country and capital”.
