MOSCOW, April 21, 2009. Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VCIOM) presents the data on what sectors of economy primarily need government assistance in a time of crisis, from Russians` point of view.
Agricultural sector should be the highest priority to receive assistance from the Russian Government, - absolute majority of Russians say (72%). Top three also include construction industry (31%) and food (26%).
This is followed by oil industry and military-industrial complex (19% for each), gas industry and forestry (17% for each), coal, ore and other minerals mining and transport (15% for each), electroenergetics and aviation industry (14% for each), automotive industry (12%), banking, investment and insurance company (9%).
Such answers, as trade, advertising, and marketing (4%), as well as communications (3%) are rarestamong Russians. And finally, 2% of respondents think that none of economic sectors need state governmental assistance.
Those who tend to put much attention to agriculture are Volga District (79%) and North-Western Federal Districts residents (77%). Residents of Privolzhie think that military-industrial complex (24%) and aviation industry (21%) essentially need government support; residents of North-Western Federal District name food industry (36%) (this point of view is shared by Siberians - 35%) and transport (29%). Respondents from the Urals more often then others point out construction industry (49%), oil industry (33%), forestry (21%, Siberians think the same - 21%), automotive industry (20%), banking (27%) and trade, advertising and marketing (17%). Siberians often consider coal, ore and other minerals mining (27%), as well as eletroenergetics and gas industry to be most significant (25% for each).
The initiative Russian opinion poll was conducted on April 11-12, 2009.
1600 respondents were interviewed at 140 sampling points in 42 regions of Russia.
The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
