Results of our studies

The contract with the current head of VCIOM was extended for three years.

MOSCOW, August 3, 2015. The order of the Russian Federal Property Management Agency confirmed the appointment of Valery Fedorov as VCIOM`s General Director for a new three-year term.

Valery Fedorov was born on September 11, 1974. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of the Moscow State University (1996) and completed his postgraduate courses there (1998). He is a Candidate of Political Sciences (2009), his dissertation was titled The Theoretical Basis for Studying Electoral Behavior of Russians During the Period of Formation of the Modern Russian National Identity. Since 2009, he has been a professor at the Higher School of Economics.

V. Fedorov has been head of the VCIOM Company since 2003. In 1993-2003, he worked for the Centre of Political Conjuncture; in 1997-2003 - at the Institute for Social and Political Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ISPI RAN). Since 2003, he has been Editor-in-Chief of The Monitoring of Public Opinion: Economic and Social Changes Magazine.

In addition to his duties, he teaches courses at the Faculty of World Politics at the Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, the Higher School of Economics and the Russian State Humanitarian University. V. Fedorov leads the Centre for Research Technologies of the RSHU and the VCIOM`s Basic Chair at the HSE.

Today the VCIOM is in the top five biggest research companies operating in Russia and the only one being a strictly national company, Valery Fedorov said commenting on his reappointment. The long term development program approved by the VCIOM Board of Directors requires efforts to strengthen company`s position in such sectors as marketing and media research. To achieve this, technological innovations coupled with research and consulting approaches are needed. Most importantly, we want to be the most attractive company in the national research market, and we need creative professionals from different humanitarian areas to make our team stronger and to turn our “data factory” to the “knowledge factory”.
