IN BRIEF

5% of Russians watched the Medvedev`s speech live; other 14% learnt about that from the news.

MOSCOW, April 26, 2013. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the data describing how many Russians paid attention to the report made by Dmitry Medvedev at the State Duma; what impression the report made on Russians; what they liked and what they did not like in the report.

Nineteen percent of Russians followed the address of D. Medvedev about the results of the work of the Russian Government (a year ago V. Putin attracted the attention of 25% of respondents).  Most of them were supporters of CPRF party (27%), Muscovites and St. Petersburgians (23%). Fifty-five percent of Russians paid no attention to the Medvedev`s address.

Whereas the Putin`s performance was positively assessed by most of Russians (52%), this year`s performance of Medvedev evoked mixed emotions: 17% liked it; 14% did not like it; other 13% say the policies are not being implemented. Nine percent of Russians admit that they do not believe in anything told by D. Medvedev.

As to ideas appreciated by Russians, a part of Russians failed to remember them (38%) or said there were no such ideas (33%). The rest of respondents cite that they assessed positively all the ideas (5%), as well as a proposal not to raise the retirement age (5%). Russians also mentioned the ideas referred to social policies (3%), what Medvedev said about the work of ministers (3%), et cet. It was easier for respondents to name the ideas that they did not like; most of them mentioned a failure to implement the political ideas (12%). Five percent of Russians did not like that the Prime Minister defended ineffective ministers; 3% said that he did not provide any concrete details; other 3% complained about the lack of care about ordinary citizens.

Generally, a relative majority of Russians say that Medvedev expressed the right ideas, but they have expressed before, and no real changes have been done (48%). Nineteen percent of respondents feel inspiration (a year ago - 48%). Thirteen percent of Russians do not agree with the ideas of the Prime Minister; 11% pay no attention to anything told by D. Medvedev.

The initiative Russian opinion polls were conducted on April 20-21, 2013. 1600 respondents were interviewed at 130 sampling points in 42 regions of Russia. The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
